Annamaria Jakab-Cerezo
"Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think."  - Albert Einstein
Hi, I am Annamaria Jakab-Cerezo, an innovative trainer & instructional designer with an Adult Education and Training Master's Degree, living in Chicago, IL.

My career and life have brought me far from my homeland, Hungary, and made me a true citizen of the World. During my international studies and work experience, I have formed a very unique set of knowledge, skills and point of view on adult education and training, more precisely on atypical learning and training methods, instructional design technology, and the design and delivery of effective and efficient learning solutions.

By the age of 29, I have been through a number of colorful work experiences, all of which brought me closer and closer to fall in love with e-learning and creative design-focused instructional design.

Currently I work as a Training Specialist in Chicago, IL, where I manage training projects and programs from the point of learning needs analysis until delivery and assessment. I am also in charge of mentoring and advising my colleagues on e-learning and resource design related questions which is my true passion.

My professional belief system is focused on the fact that in order to be the best version of ourselves - doesn't matter if we are talking career or personal life -, we have to develop a strong set of skills to be able to adapt and thrive in this life. Even though these skills are possible to improve, the traditional educational system barely focuses on doing so, therefore training professionals have to take upon this quest and offer the chance to all people.

Because learning is the key.

How did you end up so far from your birth place?

After studying in Belgium I ended up working there. That's where I met my American husband whom I followed back to the United States.

What is your biggest strength?
What I'm lacking in sense of direction I make up for in creativity. I am a natural problem solver, very organized and I am very good at adapting to situations and change.
Why should someone hire you?

Because I admire this challenging-rewarding profession. I believe that I'm good at what I do, and I will never stop learning to become better at it.

What is your favorite hobby?
Spending time with my husband and dog outdoors, doing yoga, and taking online courses to learn about new design techniques, authoring tools, trends etc.

Training & Technology

To start off simple, let's say that a training (learning) process can be in-class, blended or e-learning based.

Some people might automatically assume that it means the in-class setting does not include the use of technology at all then. To all of those lecturers, teachers and professors, who sit behind their desks quietly reading from a piece of paper as a presentation, the assumption above is not true. For the most part all learning processes could and maybe should include some kind of...
