introduction

Annamaria Jakab-Cerezo
"Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think."  - Albert Einstein
Annamaria Jakab-Cerezo is an innovative young adult educator & trainer with an Adult Education Management Ba, and an Adult Education and Training Masters Degree, living in Chicago, IL.

Her career and life choices have brought her far away from home from Hungary, and made her a true citizen of the World. During her international studies and work experience she has formed a very unique set of knowledge, skills and point of view on education and training, more precisely on atypical learning-teaching methods, instructional technology, and the development of non-technical skills combined with factual knowledge and technical aspects.

By the age of 26 she has been through a number of great internship experiences, worked as a communication assistant at one of the leader communication agencies in Belgium, and had the opportunity to really try herself while running her own project (as a quasi division of a company) developing, organizing and delivering workshops and training sessions for international students, job seekers and immigrants in English.

Currently she is operating as an educational consultant and trainer/coach, always looking for new opportunities. Her ideal job opportunity would be something colorful and challenging where she can successfully use her great communication and problem-solving skills, and apply her special all over the world-experience in order to help people grow. She is mainly interested in professional development, learning and development facilitating and holding workshops, training sessions on various subjects and topics in all forms: in-class, e-learning, or blended.

Her professional belief system is focused on the fact that in order to be the best version of ourselves - doesn't matter if we are talking career or personal life -, we have to develop a special and strong set of skills to adapt, associate with and be able to thrive in this life. Even though these skills are absolutely improvable the traditional educational system barely focuses on doing so, therefore in her opinion, motivated and adventures professionals have to take upon this quest and offer the chance to all people.

Because learning is the key.

Q&A

Why did you choose this profession?
Originally as a teenager I wanted to become a journalist. Fortunately my application wasn't accepted at the time. As random as my second choice - education - was, as fast I fell in love with this science and the amazing topics in it. I shouldn't be surprised, it was in my genes. My father is a lecturer at a university and my mother is a teacher to children with special needs.
How did you end up so far from your birth place?

After studying in Belgium I ended up working there. That's where I met my American husband whom I followed back to the United States.

What is your biggest strength?
I'm a natural problem solver, a contagious enthusiast, and trough my international journey I truly learned how to connect with people.
Why should someone hire you?

Because I admire this challenging-rewarding profession, I am good at what I do, and I am capable of working extremely hard with a smile on my face.

What is your favorite hobby?
Spending time with my husband and puppy, doing yoga, cooking and taking online courses.

Training & Technology

To start off simple, let's say that a training (learning) process can be in-class, blended or e-learning based.

Some people might automatically assume that it means the in-class setting does not include the usage of technology at all then. To all of those lecturers, teachers and professors, who sit behind their desks quietly reading from a piece of paper as a presentation, the assumption above is not true. For the most part all learning processes can and should include some kind of...
